DIY: Easy Plastic Bag Dispenser

Do you often find yourself overstocking polythene bags from the stores?
You start with a few and then before you know you have a drawer or a box or a bigger bag full of plastic bags!
Now, normally I try to be a eco-friendly person, but somehow I own a lot of polythene bags - from the grey and ugly grocery store bags to the posh looking ones, you name it and I have it!
I am not really very proud of this fact, but it is what it is...
I always try to reuse and recycle those but storing them within my apartment's small kitchen's limited cabinet space has always been a challenge. Because I don't really want to display these prized possessions of mine, yet, I want them to be readily accessible all the time!
I know there are pretty things available at the stores, but then, I am a budget savvy mom...
And, sometimes I am crafty too!
So, this was my attempt to make a plastic bag storage/dispenser using a Pringle's can.
It turned out quite good and useful, its damn easy to make and its practically free!
This is what you need for this project:
  • An empty Pringle's can
  • Some pretty scrapbook papers
  • Glue
  • Scissors/X-acto knife
  • Push-pins (optional)
  • Can opener (optional)

1. Cut open the closed side of the Pringle's can with the can opener. If you want the dispenser to be open from only one end then you can skip this step.

2. Cover the can using the scrapbook paper of you choice. Glue both ends of the paper to the can so that they overlap each other. And its ready!

3.  I used a pushpin to attach it to the wall. You can customize it according to your preference.

Here it is in my kitchen and since I used push-pins, I can easily remove it from there and attach it to someplace else :)
